EdTechTeacher is so thrilled to welcome Dr. Catherine Atkinson to our workforce of summer time instructors. Catherine Atkinson is an skilled classroom instructor, curriculum designer, presenter, and know-how coach. She taught historical past/social science and ELA to English language, gifted, and particular training college students for 27 years on the center faculty degree. Catherine has taught in a 1:1 classroom since 2008 the place her college students used MacBooks, iPads, and Chromebooks to collaboratively and creatively exhibit their studying. She has served in quite a lot of management positions: historical past/social science division chair, know-how coordinator, grasp instructor, mentor instructor, and member of the educational management workforce.
Catherine is happy to share her data and experience in her workshop entitled, “Let’s Get Appy – Creativity within the Social Science Classroom.” As an introduction to the concepts she is going to share, Catherine writes:
“I consider this passionately: that we don’t develop into creativity, we develop out of it. Or quite, we get educated out if it”
~ Sir Ken Robinson
Creativity within the classroom can simply be pushed apart amidst the strain for college kids to carry out properly on standardized exams. However creativity and literacy talent growth are usually not mutually unique. College students can purchase and apply studying, writing, listening, and talking literacy abilities in methods which can be participating, genuine, and, extra importantly, artistic.
In case you are keen on studying how you can infuse creativity into your educational practices, come be part of me on June 27, 28, 30 or August 1, 2, 4 for my session “Let’s Get Appy – Creativity within the Social Science Classroom.” I’ll share lesson concepts together with scholar samples that my colleagues and I’ve utilized in our school rooms. Even for those who don’t educate social science, come be part of us anyway as many of those concepts are relevant to ELA, science, and math. A lot of our college students are content material creators exterior of faculty—let’s harness their ardour and use it for the good thing about studying in our school rooms!
